In the USA there was a survey of adults (18+) on the noise sensitivity conducted in 2022.

So these are the replies for the questions of survey:
1. How sensitive are you to the noises or sounds that other people make around you?
Very sensitive . . . 17%
Somewhat sensitive . . . 41%
Not very sensitive . . 25%
Not at all sensitive . . 10%
Not sure . . 5%
Prefer not to say . . 2%
So “not at all sensitive” is just 10%. And considering the fact that older adults are much more sensitive to noises it could be that only 1% of older adults are “not at all sensitive”:
Every time someone listening music loudly near an older adults is 99% chance of disturbing the people.
The same survey show that 73% of adults never heard about misophonia.
Misophonia is a condition where people have an intense, negative, emotional reaction to certain sounds.
So these are the replies for the question about misophonia:
Do you know anyone who has misophonia?
Yes, me . . . 10%
Yes, a family member . . 8%
Yes, a close friend . . . 5%
Yes, an acquaintance . .. . 5%
No . .. . .57%
Prefer not to say . . . 1%
Not sure . 19%
So 57% doesn’t know anyone with misophonia. Well this number is quite strange.
Statistically speaking an average adult has about 150 meaningful contacts.
So if just 10% has misophonia then an average person should know about 15 people with misophonia.
So not knowing anyone with misophonia simply could be considered that these 57% people are just not really understand what they are talking about or just a bit self-centered.
